PREMIERE!
A group of unlikely kids embark on a Scooby Doo-type adventure as they travel to their annual Morris Dancing competition. Their mini-bus breaks down and they are stranded at a derelict minehead. Unaware of the history beneath their feet, they drink and smoke to kill the boredom. A careless cigarette changes their lives as they are blasted back in time to the day of a terrible pit disaster. Their adventures open their eyes to the legacy of their mining heritage.
A REELmcr project, commissioned by CRIS and funded by the Coalfield Regeneration Trust with the purpose of engaging the former mining community of Higher Folds, the film was developed over 12 weeks from a series of drama workshops, utilizing characters and storylines devised by the people of the community, working with a professional screenwriter. Consultants included ex-miners who live on Higher Folds and the local Morris Dancing Troop, who also feature in the film. Acting coaches included Steve Hillman (Shameless), Danielle Henry (Emmerdale), and Tom Charnock (The Wind That Shakes The Barley), and there is a cameo from Emmerdale actor Cleveland Campbell.
