Pathways

There are many pathways into the film industry, some conventional, some less so. And sometimes, taking a first step on that pathway can lead your life in a whole new direction. “Pathways” is a day of films dedicated to the work of community filmmakers, and the communities they work with. Raw talent, given a chance to shine; new voices, given a chance to be heard. Issues explored by the people most immediately affected by them. Young people given cameras, and asked: "What do you want to do?"

"Pathways" will be accompanied by a series of related screenings throughout the festival. Films by new filmmakers, independents, some who have taken quite traditional routes into film, others whose journey has been more unusual.

These are films so contemporary they’re barely out of the camera, so up-to-the-minute they’re still hot from the editing suite. Details of these films land on our copywriter’s desk like items of breaking news. Here’s what we can tell you so far.
