FILMONIK – The set text challenge

An open door and a warm welcome for those making films with a minimum of means. Not so much an “Open Mic”, as an “Open Screen”, Filmonik offers a censure-free public platform to all filmmakers, be they Industry Professionals, self-styled Media Guerrillas, or relative novices still finding their creative voice. This year, Salford Film Festival is hosting a special event: the Filmonik Set Text Challenge. Filmmakers will be invited to make films based on a selection of outlines, rough treatments, synopses, or snatches of dialogue. Find out more HERE.

The programme will also feature some selected highlights from Filmonik's monthly screenings at Matt and Phred's.

Filmonik is the UK branch of the worldwide KINO movement, which originated in Montreal, Canada in 1999, and since then has spread like wildfire across the globe. Today there are over 50 ‘cells’ in 14 countries on 4 continents. Driven by a spirit of sharing and collaboration, and a refreshing absence of competition, KINO sees itself as an experimental laboratory and a launching pad for all those who refuse to take the “traditional” production route.
