I am delighted the council is able to support our very own film festival again. It's no surprise to me the event's now in its sixth year as it's gone from strength to strength since we started. The programme reflects not only Salford's proud film-making tradition, but also that of the region, mixing community films and an international flavour. It promises to be another unmissable feature in Salford's events calendar. The film festival really helps project our local talent, the perfect showcase given that we are home to MediaCityUK. Congratulations again to everyone involved and enjoy this year's festival.
Leader of Salford City Council, Cllr John Merry

The Lowry
Set in a magnificent waterside location at the heart of the redeveloped Salford Quays in Greater Manchester, The Lowry is an architectural flagship with a unique and dynamic identity. Rising from the regenerated docklands, it is a welcoming building, designed to reflect the surrounding landscapes and flourishing waterways, in its glass and metallic surfaces.

Univerity Of Salford
The University of Salford has a rich history stretching back to 1896, but if you thought Salford was all about flat caps, factory smog and Coronation Street – think again.
Salford City Council
Salford City Council exists to serve its residents and provides a complete and comprehensive range of services and facilities. The council's mission statement is "to create the best possible quality of life for the people of Salford."

Operating from bases in Derbyshire, Salford and Liverpool we seek out and develop new talent, and enable relationships with key industry figures. Our films are high-quality, commercially-focused and often humorous, and always have a unique edge. Recent collaborators include Pete Postlethwaite, Ian Hart, Julian Barratt, Brian Percival and Warp Films.

Islington Mill Studios
Islington Mill is a former cotton spinning mill in Salford, very close to Manchester’s city centre. Unlike much of Manchester's industrial heritage, which has been converted into loft apartments, Islington Mill is now home to over 50 artists studios, an art gallery, a recording studio and a venue space. Islington Mill is an ongoing independent project that is all about the 'doing'. The guiding philosophy is to encourage and facilitate innovation, ideas and experimentation whilst constantly making opportunities out of whatever resources are available in that given moment.

CRIS
CRIS has been operating in Salford and Greater Manchester for 5 years, and was established to deliver Creative projects to the community as a means of supporting training, work placement and employment opportunities. Some of this work has focused on small creative businesses getting support to establish themselves, look for funding and deliver their own projects. Predominantly we work with those most excluded from mainstream services and agencies, to provide an opportunity to improve self-confidence, and learn new skills. This does not always mean that our participants go on to work in the sector, but develop key transferable skills that can support them to access other services, which can help them back into the mainstream, through education or employment.
