This February, the people of Greece will have the chance to discover the unique creative talent that exists in Salford and the North West of England. The Salford Film Festival team is proud to announce that we have been invited to curate a guest programme of short films for Psarokokalo 2nd International Short Film Festival, to be held in Athens from the 1st till the 10th of February 2008.
Psarokokalo is a cutting edge festival, screening film and audiovisual work which explores new approaches to image, sound, editing and narrative, using both new and more traditional technologies.
In addition to the Salford Film Festival Programme, there will be a guest programme from the Hollyshorts Short Film festival, special programmes focusing on Romanian and Basque Cinema, a retrospective of the short film work of celebrated Swedish director Roy Andersson, and screenings of the best new Greek and International shorts.
The competition section includes 65 short films from 29 countries. Many of these films have won awards or acclaim at top international film festivals, such as Cannes, Venice, Berlin and Sundance, etc., and most are screening for the first time in Greece.
The festival also features live audiovisual performances, art exhibitions, parties and lots of special events and happenings.
Any film buffs in Athens that week should take a look. It promises to be quite a festival.
